Formation of galaxies
Inspired by the wonders of nature – including the elegance & intricacy of anatomies and the evolution of species to cope with the challenges facing them.
Luminiferous aether or ether (“luminiferous”, meaning “light-bearing”) was the postulated medium for the propagation of light. It was invoked to explain the ability of the apparently wave-based light to propagate through empty space (a vacuum), something that waves should not be able to do.

Name: Amalgam Four Qualities
Artist No.883. Size: 20”h x 17”w x 4”d
Material: Reclaimed metal welded with 130-year-old Austrian glass embellishments, and enamel paint.
About:
For this sculpture series, the piece Amalgam Four is the culmination of four core values – (A.) Connection, B.) Commitment C.) Trust, D.) Joy.

This sculpture piece is finished in a unique color, whispering commentary of standing apart in excellence, while highlighted by antique glass embellishments that bring Bling to an unnoticed level of smoothness.
The sheers are two pieces the same yet opposite to create one working order, offer a forward thrust of energy- bring thinking to new levels, and hold a unique degree of balance in success. A leader is not one person but a team of people working as one united energy which is signified by the centerpiece, a gold crescendo.

The glass embellishments are some of the first Austria Kristall made, and traveled with a family to the United States during wartime. The embellishments are meant to highlight the positive energy experienced.
The artist uses reclaimed objects as a placeholder for memory and energy to stimulate personal narrative from the onlooker. The reclaimed objects naturally come loaded with history which enhances the context of the sculpture’s subliminal conversation.

The base is made of small pieces of metal which were collected from around the City of Saratoga and meant to represent deep community roots. The lines follow a trail left by the story of each individual, which is shared in a small town.
The angel or pyramid where the sheers balance on, in a forward motion, cut into the atmosphere of the circles that bring hundreds of years of metaphoric meaning to the table. The sheers hold an intricate square- die, signifying the unique box each individual carries throughout a short life and the shaped holes let light and air into a complicated and competitive field of work as each individual sparkle like the highlighted Kristall which embellishes it. The past life as a commercial threading die, wink- at the long life and labor. The painterly lines highlight a winning futures and family team that works within a unique life. On the square, die are two open locks which symbolize security, and with the lock open it screams the ethos of trust.

“Joy” – Poem By artist Michelle Vara
Think back to childhood
A warm, sunny, summer day
A few friends on bicycles at the top of a hill
One calls out-
“I’ll race you!”
Starts the excitement
Everyone peddles
Hard- fast-
Excitement screams through your veins
As the heart pounds
The feelings- Of speed- Of flight- Of freedom
Sheer Joy!

About
This work whispers through an anthropomorphic figure of strength and guiding light.
The top of a beautifully ornate, whimsical gas lighting piece is from the Victorian age. In its past life, it provided the control to turn on or off the gas for a lamp. This was used to represent the carrier of control-that, that lights dark places, and now in its new form, is endowed with a golden diamond of positive intent. The embellishment is some of the first glass crystal made in the 1930 in Austria. This focal point sits on top of a piston which was a power part to the whole of a motor and bequeaths its compatibility to work in a driving force forward, displaying a mystical, detailed gold leaf and paint finish that carries the intention of marking time and events with circles and dashes.

The pieces would not normally be noticed and would have been discarded as trash while in found state of unrecognizable rust and grunge adds another layer of conversation to the transformation and preservation of culture, beliefs, and systems of humanity.
The Back Story-
I answered a call from a lady whose mother had passed, saying they were demoing the mothers house- “would I like to look for objects that could be used in works of art before it happened” Of course, I said yes.

While in her company, she spoke of her mother with great love and admiration, although the mother was sick and in her care for a long time. Her mother was described as extremely strong in will, morals, and physically worked hard as a house mover. She said more than once her mother possessed a light but was not showy and liked things a certain way.
Her description of her mother’s being kept ringing in my thoughts and is incorporated into this piece.
